Day 28 & 29: Beijing Pictures

More pictures!

I realize that I didn't update on what we did Wednesday. We went to the Summer Palace, shopped around Wangfujing, and then went to the Noodle Loft for dinner. The pictures are a little out of order but I am not really feeling like putting them in order since I know you'll manage.

Here is a picture from Wednesday night, when we had dinner at the Noodle Loft, another place Anthony Bourdain ate at when he visited Beijing. The Noodle Loft is famous for their noodles, and the noodle makers roll/cut/make the noodles on the first floor. We had been seated on the 2nd floor, a more upscale dining room, and just as they brought our food, we asked to me moved to the first floor so we could watch the noodle makers. It was well worth the inconvenience/scene caused, though I apologized profusely and I'm sure they're somewhat used to Westerners wanting to sit on the first floor. Anyways, here is us at our table:
A picture of the food we ordered. We got some cold veggie noodles, another plate of cold noodles, long spinach noodles (the green ones), knife-cut noodles (dao shao mian), and also chopstick-cut noodles. Then we got 3 sauces to accompany the noodles: egg and tomato, pork and soy sauce, and pork and vinegar.
Here is a picture of the delicious noodles we had on my plate, with some milk tea. SO GOOD!
And here is what the noodle bar looked like. And a cool dude making noodles.

Okay, enough with the noodles. They're starting to make me hungry again. Here are a few pictures from the Summer Palace adventure and also Temple of Heaven from Thursday.
Us at Summer Palace, the smog behind us is covering up the beautiful lake and hill. :(Monkey at the Summer Palace. I made sure not to forget him. I forgot to take him to the Great Wall :(

The Summer Palace is really lookin good behind all that smog!

Monkey is enjoying the lake, but not the smog. It's damaging his lungs and filling his insides with pollution.
Here's a picture of the courtyard from our hostel, Sitting on the City Walls. By far the best hostel I've stayed at in China! The owner, Rick, is super nice and helped us with everything from reserving Liqun reservations to directions to get to places. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is going to Beijing. (I feel like I just did a hostelworld review)
A picture of a cute couple from the Temple of Heaven.

Me and Monkey. Stupid Chinese tourists kept getting in my picture.. GRRr...
The obligatory jumping picture. This was the better of the two, and after we took this, the Chinese people in the background were so enthralled that they set up shop to take pictures of the second jump. They LOVED it. Jumping brings countries and people together. Seriously. PS I love Steph's expression in this picture.
A neat shot of the big temple, though there were tourists everywhere, making it hard to get a good clear shot.
And a cute sign that was posted outside the temple.Guess who we found again! :)
Delicious Beard Papas!

And that's it for now! Hope alles gut! Miss you all at home. :) Leave me some comment love if you have time!
