Day 3: Hong Kong and Lantou Island

Day 3 was quite an eventful day! We woke up early (6am) and were out the door by 8:30 to explore Kowloon Park. It was still muggy but a nice day nonetheless. There were flamingos and swans in the lake.

Afterwards, we took pictures around Kowloon, and I saw one of my favorite buildings, the apartment complex with a hole in the middle.
Then we rode the Star Ferry over to Hong Kong island for some delicious dim sum at City Hall.
My favorite thing there was a pineapple bun with barbecued pork inside. It made me think of my sister because it involved two of her favorite things. :)
After dim sum, we rode the ferry over to Lantou Island. It was a really rocky ride, and a woman who sat near us threw up supposedly, according to her obnoxiously loud son. It was entertaining nonetheless and we arrived in one piece.
We rode the bus through the island and arrived at the great Tian Tan Buddha. You have to climb 260 steps up to reach the giant sitting Buddha, one of the largest in the world.
After seeing the Buddha and Buddhist monastery, we rode a cable car to the other side of the island and took a MTR back to Tsim Sha Tsui.
We rested a bit and then went to see the light show of Hong Kong Island at the promenade and then to the Temple Night Market, which was entertaining and super crowded.
A full and fun day. More later!
